During sports day, lemon juice has been prepared and stored in a bucket whose capacity is 15 L. Two types of glasses were used for distributing the juice to athletes. One glass has a capacity of 100ml and the other is with a capacity of 150 ml. Which pair among the following is NOT a possible number of glasses if lemon juice were completely distributed?

During sports day, lemon juice has been prepared and stored in a bucket whose capacity is 15 L. Two types of glasses were used for distributing the juice to athletes. One glass has a capacity of 100ml and the other is with a capacity of 150 ml. Which pair among the following is NOT a possible number of glasses if lemon juice were completely distributed? Correct Answer (50, 70)

Given:

Total capacity of bucket = 15 L

Capacity of glasss1 = 100 ml

Capacity of glass 2 = 150 ml

Calculation:

1 L = 1000 ml

15 L = 15 × 1000 =15000 ml

Let assume that number of type of glass1 = x

Total quantity in glass 1 = 100x

Number of type of glass 2 = y

Total quantity in glass 2 = 150y

According to the question:

100x + 150y = 15000

(2x + 3y) × 50 = 300 × 50

2x + 3y = 300

Option 1:

x = 60, y = 60

(2 × 60 + 3 × 60) = 300

300 = 300

Option 2:

x = 15, y = 90

(2 × 15 + 3 × 90) = 300

300 = 300

Option 3:

x = 90, y = 40

(2 × 90 + 3 × 40) = 300

300 = 300

Option 4:

x = 50, y = 70

(2 × 50 + 3 × 70) = 300

310 = 300

(50, 70) is not possible number of glasses.

The correct option is 4 i.e. 50, 70
