A forging method for reducing the diameter of a bar and in the process making it longer is termed as Correct Answer Fullering
In fullering: The material cross-section is decreased and length increased. To do this, the bottom fuller is kept in the anvil hole with the heated stock over the fuller. The top fuller is then kept above the stock and then with the sledgehammer, the force is applied on the top fuller. Due to the concentration of force over a very small area, cross-section decreases at that point.
Edging: This applied to increase the cross-sectional area of the stock at the expense of its length.
