The question consists of two statements, an assertion and a reason. The student must first determine whether each statement is true. Each question below consists of an assertion and a reason. Assertion (A): The Earth revolves around the Sun. Reason (R): The Moon revolves around the Earth. Correct Answer
Both A and R are true and R is not the correct explanation of A.

We know that the Earth revolves around the Sun, so A is true. It is also true that the Moon revolves around the Earth, so R is true. But the Earth revolves around the Sun because of the gravity exerted by the Sun which pulls the Earth towards it, the same way that the Moon is pulled towards the Earth because of the Earth’s gravity. So the reason for this orbiting of the Earth around the Sun is gravity and not the Moon’s movement around the Earth. Hence, option 2 is the right answer.
