Let the number of phones he sold at a loss be X. Then. (24 - X)×950 - 500X = 9750 or,  24×950 - 950X - 500X = 9750 or,  950X + 500X = 24×950 - 9750 = 22800 - 9750 = 13050 or,  1450X = 13050 or,  X = 13050 / 1450 = 9
