C: Their chloroplasts contain chlorophylls a and b, which gives them their green color. D: Green plants obtain most of their energy from sunlight via photosynthesis by primary chloroplasts that are derived from endosymbiosis with cyanobacteria.
In the following question, sentences of a paragraph have been jumbled and labelled as A, B, C and D. You are required to rearrange the jumbled sentences of the paragraph and mark your response accordingly by selecting the correct option. A: So, they have lost the ability to produce normal amounts of chlorophyll or to photosynthesize. B: Some plants are parasitic or mycotrophic. C: Their chloroplasts contain chlorophylls a and b, which gives them their green color. D: Green plants obtain most of their energy from sunlight via photosynthesis by primary chloroplasts that are derived from endosymbiosis with cyanobacteria. Correct Answer DCBA
The correct answer is option 2) i.e. DCBA.
- D is the first sentence because it talks about green plants and photosynthesis for the first time in the passage. D also mentions 'chloroplasts' which are mentioned again in C with 'these', i.e. 'these' in C is a clear reference to the 'chloroplasts' mentioned in D. So, C would follow D.
- B mentions two categories of plants and A says that since they are parasitic or mycotrophic, they can't produce the same amount of chlorophyll like other plants or photosynthesize. Therefore, A would follow B.
Thus, the correct arrangement is : DCBA.
