  • When direct speech is in an assertive form, we follow the steps given below:
    • The reporting verb said will remain the same as no object has been mentioned after it.
    • Connectors 'that' is used in place of comma and inverted commas.
    • The personal pronouns will be changed according to the subject and object of the reporting verb.
      • ​First person pronouns in the direct speech change according to the subject of the reporting verb
      • Here 'I' will be converted into the 'he' as per the object.
      • In the same manner, 'my' will be converted into 'his' and 'me' into 'him' in the latter part of the sentence.
    • If two simultaneous actions are used in past indefinite tense, there will be no change in the tense of reported speech.
    • At last line up the remaining part.
