Given below the three statements are given followed by two conclusions numbered I and II. You have to consider the statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Decide which of the conclusion(s) follow/s from the statements. Statements: 1. All lawyers are professionals. 2. Some lawyers are intelligent. 3. No intelligent man is prosperous. Conclusion: I. At least some lawyers are prosperous is a possibility. II. All lawyers, if they are intelligent, are also prosperous.
Correct Answer Only conclusion I follows.
The pattern followed here is:
- From statement 3, it is clear that there are no intelligent men that are prosperous. So, the men that are not intelligent may be prosperous.
- Statement 2 says some layers are intelligent, which means some lawyers are not intelligent. From both these statements, it is evident that some lawyers are prosperous and some are not. Thus, conclusion 1 is a correct possibility, so it follows.
- Since it is clearly given that no intelligent man is prosperous, irrespective of being a lawyer or not, therefore conclusion II cannot follow.
Hence the correct answer is option 4.
