What will be the height of oil head (in the tube) equal to 4 kg/cm2 pressure while the specific density of oil is 0.8?
What will be the height of oil head (in the tube) equal to 4 kg/cm2 pressure while the specific density of oil is 0.8? Correct Answer 50 m
Concept:
Pressure due to any height of liquid h is given by
P = ρ x g x h
Where ρ = density of liquid
g = acceleration due to gravity
h = Height of liquid
Calculation:
Given,
The density of water is 1000 kg/m3.
Specific gravity = 0.8
So density = 0.8 x 1000 kg/m3 = 800 kg/m3
Pressure = 4 kg/cm2 = 4 × g = 40 × 10000 N/m2 (∵ 1 Kg = 9.81 N ≈ 10 N)
So 400000 = 800 x 10 x h
∴ h = 50 m
