300 students were asked about their favourite sport. It was concluded that cricket was the favourite sport of 140 students, football was the favourite sport of 105 students and volleyball was the favourite of 55 students. If a student is picked randomly among all students, what is the probability that the student's favourite sport is neither cricket nor volleyball?  Correct Answer 7/20

Given:

Total students = 300

Student's favourite is cricket = 140

Student's favourite is football = 105

Student's favourite is volleyball = 55

Formula Used:

Probability  = Number of favourable events/Total number of events

Calculation:

Number of favourable events = Student's favourite sport is neither cricket nor volleyball

Student's favourite sport is neither cricket nor volleyball =  Student's favourite sport is football

Number of favourable events = 105

Total number of events = 300

Probability  = 105/300

⇒ 7/20

∴ The probability that the student's favourite sport is neither cricket nor volleyball is 7/20
