One-sixth of the trees in a garden are jamun trees, half of the trees are Eucalyptus trees and the remaining are peepal trees.  If the number of jamun trees is 6, how many peepal tree are there in the garden?

One-sixth of the trees in a garden are jamun trees, half of the trees are Eucalyptus trees and the remaining are peepal trees.  If the number of jamun trees is 6, how many peepal tree are there in the garden?  Correct Answer 12

CALCULATION:

Let the total number of trees be x

Number of Jamun tress = x ÷ 6

Number of Eucalyptus trees = x ÷ 2

Number of Peepal trees = x - x/6 - x/2

⇒ ( 12x - 2x - 6x )/12 = x/3

According to the question

⇒ x/6 = 6

⇒ x = 36

Number of peepal trees  = 36/3 = 12

The number of Jamun tress is 6 and  one-sixth of the trees in a garden are jamun trees.

∴  Total number of trees = 6 × 6 = 36

So , Number of Eucalyptus trees  = 36/2 = 18

The Number are Peepal trees  = 36 - 18 - 6 = 12
