Neha walks 3 m towards the west and then 5 m towards the northeast. She again walks 3 m west and then again 5 m northeast. How far is she from the starting point? Correct Answer 8 m

Pythagoras theorem

(Hypotenuse)2 = (Perpendicular)2 + (Base)2

As per the given information;

[ alt="F1 Pooja Madhuri 23.03.2021 D11" src="//storage.googleapis.com/tb-img/production/21/03/F1_Pooja_Madhuri_23.03.2021_D11.png" style="width: 440px; height: 342px;">

Using Pythagoras Theorem, the Distance between initial and final point will be:

√(52 -  32) + √(52 -  32)

= √(25 - 9) + √(25 - 9)

= √16 + √16

= 4 + 4 = 8 m

Hence, Neha is 8 m from his starting point.
