Where will you find ciliated epithelium in body of animals? Correct Answer Bronchiole
Concept:
Epithelium tissue:
- It is a type of tissue having a free surface, which faces either a body fluid or the outside environment and thus provides a covering or a lining for some part of the body.
- The cells are compactly packed with a little intercellular matrix.
- Epithelial cells can be of various types, columnar epithelium is one of them.
- The columnar epithelium tissue is made up of a single layer of tall and slender epithelial cells where absorption and secretion are required.
- There are basically two types of columnar epithelium, ciliated or non-ciliated based on the presence of motile cilia.
Explanation:
About ciliated epithelium:
- The ciliated epithelium has a hair-like structure called cilia on them.
- These are present on the lining trachea, respiratory tract, ureters, fallopian tubes, etc.
- The beating of cilia in these cells helps in the movement of material through them.
- Its nuclei are located in the base and its free surface has microvilli.
Thus, Ciliated epitheliums are found in bronchiole.
Stomach:
- The pH value of the stomach is 1.5 to 2.0.
- Mucus is present on the inner lining of the stomach to protect the stomach from the effect of the acid released.
- HCL is produced by parietal cells in the Gastric Gland in the stomach.
Intestine:
- There are two types of intestine i.e. small intestine and large intestine.
- Maximum food absorbs in the small intestine while maximum water is absorbed in the large intestine.
Air sac:
- The alveoli are tiny air sacs in the lungs where the actual gas exchange between the atmosphere and blood takes place
- Each alveolus is balloon-shaped and tiny, about 200 micrometres in diameter.
- There are about 400 million alveoli present in the lungs.
