Identify the technique generally preferred for contouring rough country where ordinary levelling is tedious and chaining is slow and inaccurate.
Identify the technique generally preferred for contouring rough country where ordinary levelling is tedious and chaining is slow and inaccurate. Correct Answer Tachometry surveying
Concept:
Tacheometric surveying:
- Tacheometric is a branch of surveying in which horizontal and vertical distances are determined by taking angular observation with an instrument known as a tachometer.
- Tacheometric surveying is adopted in rough in rough and difficult terrain where direct leveling and chaining are either not possible or very tedious.
- Tacheometry is mainly used while preparing contour plans and traversing and is also suitable for hydrographic surveys, location surveys of roads, railways, etc.
- The main principle of Tacheometry is based on the basic principle of isosceles triangle.
Compass surveying:
- Compass surveying is a type of surveying in which the directions of surveying lines are determined with a magnetic compass, and the length of the surveying lines are measured with a tape or chain or laser range finder.
- The compass is generally used to run a traverse line.
Plane table surveying:
- Plane table surveying is a graphical method of survey in which the field observations and plotting are done simultaneously.
- It is simple and cheaper than Theodolite survey but it is mostly suitable for small scale survey.
Levelling:
- Leveling is a branch of surveying in civil engineering to measure levels of different points with respect to a fixed point such as elevation of a building, height of one point from ground etc.
