In CH4 molecule, the hybridisation is sp3 and all the four hybrid orbitals will overlap with s orbital of H.
In C2H6, hybridisation of both the carbon atoms are sp3, hence between carbon atoms, sp3 – sp3 overlapping is present and between C and H, sp3 – s overlapping is present.
In C2H4, hybridisation of both the carbon atoms are sp2, hence between carbon atoms, sp2 – sp2 overlapping is present and between C and H, sp2 – s overlapping is present.
