The following question has three statements. Study the question and the statements and decide which of the statement(s) is necessary to answer the question. Two cars starts from points A and B at the same time moving towards each other and meet at point C. Find the distance between points A and C. I) Distance between A and B is 150 km. II) They meet after 2 hrs. III) Ratio of their speeds is 3 ∶ 2.
Correct Answer All three
Considering all three statements,
Let their speeds be ‘3x’ and ‘2x’ respectively
In 2 hrs,
Distance covered from A + Distance covered from B = 150
⇒ 2(3x) + 2(2x) = 150
⇒ x = 150/10 = 15
⇒ Distance between A and C = Distance covered from A = 6x = 6(15) = 90 km
∴ The question can be answered using all the three statements
