Given below are two quantities named A & B. Based on the given information; you have to determine the relation between the two quantities. You should use the given data and your knowledge of Mathematics to choose between the possible answers. Quantity A∶ Total number of ways in which 6 persons travelling in train can deboard at 4 stations (Assuming that only and exactly one-person deboard at one station and 3 persons deboard at last station) Quantity B∶ Total number of ways in which “SPELL” can be arranged.
Correct Answer Quantity A > Quantity B
Quantity A∶ Total number of ways in which 6 persons travelling in train can deboard at 4 stations
Total number of ways in which persons can deboard at 1st station = 6
Total number of ways in which persons can deboard at 2nd station = 5
Total number of ways in which persons can deboard at 3rd station = 4
Total number of ways in which persons can deboard at 4th station = 1 (all 3 remaining have to deboard now, only way to do so)
Total number of ways = 6 × 5 × 4 × 1 = 120
⇒ P = 120
Quantity B∶ Number of ways “SPELL” can be written
⇒ 5!/2! (∵ ‘L’ is repeated)
⇒ (5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1) / (2 × 1) = 60
∴ Quantity A > Quantity B
