A game was played between two teams comprising of seven players each, in which the winning team won the game by 14 points. If the average points scored by each player in the game is 9 points, then find the average points scored by each player of the winning team. Correct Answer 10 points

Total no. of players in game = 2 × 7 = 14

Average points scored by each player = 9 points

⇒ Total points scored by the two teams = 14 × 9 = 126 points

Now, let the winning team scored ‘x’ points in the game,

⇒ Points scored by losing team = 126 – x

But, the winning team won the game by 14 points,

⇒ x – (126 – x) = 14

⇒ 2x = 126 + 14

⇒ x = 140/2 = 70 points

∴ Average points scored by each player of winning team = 70/7 = 10 points
