Which is true about the inductive method of teaching grammar? I. Allows even poorly trained teachers to teach grammar by using lectures II. Is learner centric III. Allows teaching of finer points of grammar Correct Answer II and III
Grammar is the set of rules concerned with the use of words in the context to construct meaningful sentences. It is always effective to present grammar in natural discourse and then let them know how the form is created, how one can use it. This method is called the inductive approach.
Inductive method is a method which makes grammar learning an effective and productive process by:
- presenting grammar form in a natural discourse, then explaining how the form is made and used. Therefore, it allows the trained teachers to use it effectively by simply explaining theory and later allowing students to tell examples and make it learner-centred.
- promoting divergent and critical thinking and leading learners from known to unknown or example to formula.
- giving illustration in sentences or paragraph to help students to learn grammatical rules in the context which allows students to learn even the finer concepts where students generally make mistakes.
Hence, we conclude that II and III points are true about the inductive method.
