Board of Vikramsila University:
Vikramshila University was started by King Dharmapala in the 8th century A.D. The university was formed in reply to a deterioration in the quality of scholarship at Nalanda. During Pala Empire, Nalanda and Vikramshila were one of the most vital centers of higher learning in India. These universities were considered international universities as they attracted scholars from various countries. Vikramshila university sustained and flourished for four centuries and later it was destroyed by the Muslim invaders.
