Final ratio = 56 : 59

Calculation:

Total students = 56 ratio = 1008

Boys = 1008/56 × 29 = 522

Girls = 1008 - 522 = 486

Let number of girls admitted be x

∴ (486 + x)/(522 + 9) = 56/59

⇒ 28674 + 59 x = 29736

⇒ 59 x = 1062

⇒ x = 18

∴ 18 girls were admitted
