Which control method is best suitable to eliminate steady state error in closed loop response? Correct Answer Integral
Integral controller reduces both the steady state error and the relative stability because it adds one pole to the system.
Integral Control:
- Integral control is based on the principle that the controller’s output should be proportional to both the magnitude and duration of the error. The controller’s output will continue to change its value until the error is zero.
- This property enables integral action to eliminate offset error automatically (∴ It is sometimes called as automatic reset controller)
- Also, a smaller amplitude causes a slower rate of change of the output.
The general block diagram of an Integral controller is shown below:

Features:
- This controller is a memory-based controller.
- This increases the type of system.
- This controller reduces steady-state error.
- This controller improves the steady-state response.
