Human eye has a near point i.e. distance of distinct vision at approximately 25cm. For a normal eye, which of the following statements is true? Correct Answer The image formed on the retina is real, inverted and diminished.
Concept:
- Eye helps us in visualizing objects and also helps us in light perception, color, and depth perception.
- The human eye consists of the following parts: Sclera, Retina, Cornea, Lens, Pupil, and Optic nerve.

Retina:
- It is the light-sensitive surface of an eye on which the image is formed.
- The real and inverted images are formed on the retina.
- It converts the image into electrical nerve impulses for visual perception by the brain.
Explanation:
- The image is formed on the retina by successive refractions at the cornea, the aqueous humor, the lens, and the vitreous humor.
- The human eyes lens acts as convex in nature. and forms a real, inverted, and diminished image on the retina which is perceived by the optic nerve tract that carries the image to the brain for the processing of the information.
Thus, from the above discussion, we can say that the image formed on the retina is real, inverted, and diminished.
