In case of pure bending, what is the significance of zero shear force? Correct Answer Bending is same at every cross section of the beam
The pure bending is not dependent on the simultaneous presence of different forces like axial, shear or torsional. Again internal reactions in any beam can generate resultant normal, shear force or couple. Therefore, in a homogenous and isotropic material based beam, we can see the cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the beam.
Moreover, shear force = 0 means the bending moment is constant i.e. the major feature of pure bending. The constant bending moment means bending is same in every cross section of the beam.
