The monthly incomes of Meera and Vinita are in the ratio 4 : 5, their expenses are in the ratio 5 : 6. If Meera saves Rs. 350 per month and Vinita saves Rs. 500 per month, what are their respective incomes? Correct Answer 1600, 2000

Let, Income of Meera = 4x and expense of Meera = 5y

∴ Income of Vinita = 5x and expense of Vinita = 6y

According to problem,

4x – 5y = 350               ----- (1)

And

5x – 6y = 500                 ----- (2)

Solving (1) and (2) we get,

x = 400

∴ Meera’s income = 4x = 4 × 400 = 1600

Vinita’s income = 5x = 5 × 400 = 2000
