In the given ∆DEF shown below,

sin D = opposite/hypotenuse = EF/DF = 15/17
⇒ EF = 15 units and DF = 17 units
Using Pythagoras theorem,
⇒ DE2 = DF2 - EF2 = 172 - 152 = 289 - 225 = 64
⇒ DE = √64 = 8 units
∴ cot F = hypotenuse/opposite = EF/DE = 15/8
