Given below are two quantities named A and B. Based on the given information, you have to determine the relation between the two quantities. You should use the given data and your knowledge of Mathematics to choose among the possible answers. Quantity A∶ There are 4 Green, 3 White and 6 Yellow balls in a bag. Three balls are drawn at random. What is the probability that all the balls are of different colours? Quantity B∶ Two dice are thrown simultaneously. What is the probability that the sum of the numbers appeared in both the dice is odd?

Given below are two quantities named A and B. Based on the given information, you have to determine the relation between the two quantities. You should use the given data and your knowledge of Mathematics to choose among the possible answers. Quantity A∶ There are 4 Green, 3 White and 6 Yellow balls in a bag. Three balls are drawn at random. What is the probability that all the balls are of different colours? Quantity B∶ Two dice are thrown simultaneously. What is the probability that the sum of the numbers appeared in both the dice is odd? Correct Answer Quantity A < Quantity B

Quantity A∶

There are 4 Green, 3 White and 6 Yellow balls;

∴ Probability that all the balls are of different colour = (3C1 × 4C1 × 6C1) / 13C3 = (3 × 4 × 6)/286 = 36/143

Quantity B∶

Two dice are thrown simultaneously.

∴ Total number of outcomes = 6 × 6 = 36

As we require the probability that the sum of the numbers appeared in both the dice is odd;

∴ Required outcomes = {(1,2), (1,4), (1,6), (2,1), (2,3), (2,5), (3,2), (3,4), (3,6), (4,1), (4,3), (4,5), (5,2), (5,4), (5,6), (6,1), (6,3), (6,5)}

∴ No. of required outcomes = 18

∴ Required probability = 18/36 = 1/2

∴ Quantity A < Quantity B
