Let the ratio of 20% ethanol to 40% ethanol be x ∶ 1,

According to the question,

⇒ x × 0.2 + 1 × 0.4 = (x + 1) × 0.28

⇒ 0.08x = 0.12

⇒ x = 3/2

∴ Required Ratio = 3 ∶ 2
