What will be the ratio between the area of a triangle bounded by the lines 5x + 2y = 20 and x-axis and y-axis to the area of a triangle bounded by 2x – 8y = 32 and x-axis and y-axis? Correct Answer 5 : 8
Given,
5x + 2y = 20
If x = 0, y = 10
If y = 0, x = 4
Area of triangle = 1/2 × 4 × 10 = 20 sq.unit
Given,
2x – 8y = 32
If x = 0, y = -4
If y = 0, x = 16
Then,
Area of triangle = 1/2 × 16 × 4 = 32 sq.unit
Required ratio = 20 : 32 = 5 : 8
