A player has 20 average goals in 40 Hockey matches. In his next few matches, his average goals decreased by 1 and the total number of goals is increased by 55. Also, in the next 15 matches, the total number of goals is increased by 225 that he has in 40 matches. What will be his overall average after playing all the matches? Correct Answer 18

Given,

Average = sum of elements/number of elements

Given,

Total number of goals in 40 matches =

= 20 × 40

= 800

Let some number of matches be N.

⇒ (20 – 1) = (800 + 55)/(N + 40)

⇒ 19N + 760 = 855

⇒ N = 5

Given,

Total number of matches = 40 + 5 + 15 = 60

Total number of goals in 60 matches = 800 + 55 + 225 = 1080

Required Average =

= 1080/60

= 18
