54 : x ∷ x: 6

54/x = x/6

x² = 54 × 6 = 9 × 36

x = 3 × 6

x = 18

If fourth proportional of 2, 3 and 12 is y, then

2 : 3 ∷ 12 : y

2/3 = 12/y

y = (12 × 3) /2

y = 18

Ratio of x : y = 18 : 18 = 1 : 1
