Bag A contains certain number of balls (red and green). Bag B has 60% more red balls than in bag A and 10% more green balls than in bag A. If the ratio of total balls in bag A to that in bag B is 10 : 13, then what is the ratio of red to the green balls in bag B?

Bag A contains certain number of balls (red and green). Bag B has 60% more red balls than in bag A and 10% more green balls than in bag A. If the ratio of total balls in bag A to that in bag B is 10 : 13, then what is the ratio of red to the green balls in bag B? Correct Answer 32 : 33

Let red and green balls in bag A is ‘x’ and ‘y’ respectively.

Since, ratio of total balls in bag A to that in bag B is 10 : 13. So, total balls in bag B are 30% more than that in bag A.

By the rule of alligation:

: = x : y

x : y = 20 : 30 = 2 : 3

Let x = 2k and y = 3k

Red balls in bag B = 160% of x = 1.6x = 3.2k

Green balls in bag B = 110% of y = 1.1y = 3.3k

Required ratio = 3.2k : 3.3k = 32 : 33
