What is a Troponin Test
A troponin test is a test that measures the levels of two proteins, known as troponin I and troponin T, in the blood. These proteins are found in the heart muscle and their levels can indicate if there is tissue damage in the heart. Preparation for Troponin Test

Additionally, you should avoid acute physical activity and alcohol for 24 hours before the test.
The Procedure for a Troponin Test
A troponin test requires a blood sample. You will be asked to sit or lie down and relax while the blood is drawn from a vein in your arm. The needle is then removed and a bandage is applied. The specimen is sent to a laboratory to measure the troponin levels.
Types of Troponin Tests
There are two types of troponin tests: a high-sensitivity troponin (hs-troponin) test and a standard troponin test. The hs-troponin test is more sensitive and can detect very small changes in troponin levels. It is used to diagnose heart attacks and to assess a person’s risk of developing heart failure or other cardiac events.

Risks of a Troponin Test
