(a) Hexane and methyl vinyl chloride are distinguished by adding bromine in `C CI_(4)` to each. The red brown bromine colour persists in alkane but isappears in methyl vinyl chloride.
(b) `H_(2)C=CH-CH_(2)Cl.` is an allylic chloride (The CI is very reactive). This reacts rapidly with `AgNO_(3)` in the cold to give a white ppt. of `AgNO_(3). CH_(3)CH_(2)CH_(2)CI` gives white ppt. when warmed with `AgNO_(3)` as it is comparatively less reactive .
`CH_(3)-CH=CHCI` is inert and does not form white ppt. with `AgNO_(3).`
