When a body is being heated below the malting point, the heat supplied increases the potential as well as the kinetic energy of the molecules. Due to the increase in the kinetic energy of the mole clues, the temperature increases. But at melting point, heat goes, to increase only the potential energy of molecules and hence the temperature remains the same.
