Hydrotropism can be demonstrated with any germinating seedlings, which are allowed to grow on the ground. The soil around the roots is separated by a polythene partition. The left side is kept moist and the right side dry.

The radicle at first grows in a downwards direction and after some time the roots bend towards the moist soil. This is due to movement of the germinating roots to water.

Fill the flower pot with soil and pour water in it. Then plant some seeds. After few days we observe germination of seed and seeds contain two parts one of the parts (root) grows towards water and another part of the plant (stem) grows towards light. By this experiment we conclude that roots show hydrotropism and shoot shows phototropic movement.
