(a) Faraizi Movement was started in East Bengal in 1804 and lasted till 1860. It was founded by Haji Shariatullah and was succeeded by his son Muhammad Mohsin, commonly known as Dadu Mian. The cause behind the movement was degeneration of the Islamic society and loss of power to the British. Hence its aim was to remove abuses from Islamic society as well as to restore Muslim rule by expelling the British from India. Faraizi movement was amalgamated with the Wababi movement in the later stages.
