Convex mirrors give a virtual, erect, and diminished image of the objects placed in front of them. They are preferred as a rear-view mirror in vehicles because they give a wider field of view, which allows the driver to see most of the traffic behind him.
As convex mirror produces diminished image so it can cover a large field hence we use convex mirror as rear-view mirror.
Image formed by a concex mirror is always virtual, erect and smaller than the object. They are more helpful than the plane mirror because they can capture a wider range.
Because these mirrors are fitted on the sides of the vehicle, enabling the driver to see traffic behind him/her to facilitate safe driving.
