Bile is secreted by the liver, stored in gall bladder and released into the small intestine where it breaks down lipids into fatty acids, helps in absorption of fat soluble vitamins and neutralization of gastric acid.
The wall of alimentary canal contains muscle layers. Rhythmic contraction and relaxation of these muscles pushes the food forward. This is called peristalsis, which occurs all along the gut.
