In mathematics, Gegenbauer polynomials or ultraspherical polynomials Cn are orthogonal polynomials on the interval with respect to the weight function. They generalize Legendre polynomials and Chebyshev polynomials, and are special cases of Jacobi polynomials. They are named after Leopold Gegenbauer.
