An assault boat is a boat used for making a landing in combat. Meant for inland waters, assault boats are light enough to be carried by several men and paddled, or fitted with an outboard motor for high-speed operation, manually portable or not. Larger assault boats are used in riverine and littoral water where the boat is easy enough to berth in tight space and shallow water. Assault boats are usually 5 to 20 meters in length and made of either from rubber, fiberglass, aluminum or steel.
