Calcium citrate is also found in some dietary calcium supplements. Calcium makes up 24.1% of calcium citrate and 21.1% of calcium citrate by mass. The tetrahydrate occurs in nature as the mineral Earlandite.
In 2019, it was the 225th most commonly prescribed medication in the United States, with more than 2 million prescriptions.
