Option 3 : Using pictures to visualize words and structures.

Grammar is defined as a theory of language. We consider language as rule-governed behavior, relating to sounds, word formation, and structure. Here grammar constitutes a subset of rules relating to morphology and syntax.

  • Grammar Lesson as the term implies, provides practice in grammar. The practice will be made interesting and not mechanical like traditional exercises. Further, these activities will provide opportunities for learners to use language for communication.

Grammar lesson consists of four parts:
  • 1. Presentation: The teacher selects a grammar structure relevant to student needs and introduces it.
  • 2. Focused Practice: In this stage, students use texts as a source of teaching points through various exercises. After they finish the exercise, the teacher gives them the correct answers and also discusses their errors.
  • 3. Communicative Practice: Now, the learner engages in using sentences that are examples of the teaching point. These activities are similar to communication in real life. They also get feedback from their peers regarding the effectiveness of their communication.
  • 4. Teacher feedback and correction: Although it has been listed last, feedback and correction actually form an integral part of all the three stages above. The teacher presents examples of incorrect student language and correct it and he also provide learners the opportunities to discover their own mistakes.

Hence, it is clear that use of pictures to visualize words and structures to teach grammar lesson is incorrect.
