Option 4 : (A), (B) and (C)

All the given statements ie (A), (B), and (C) are correct about the balutedars of Deccan.

  • The village servants were primarily artisans and formed an important section of the rural society in Deccan. They were called balutedars and their income, which was a share in the agricultural produce, was known as balutas.

There were two kinds of balutedars:

  1. Watandar balutedar:
    • The nature of service of the watandar baluta was hereditarily fixed and they had a permanent right to work.
    • Generally they enjoyed monopoly over their respective occupations.
    • They received various remunerations in the village like baluta remuneration (given in cash or kind), additional remunerations in cash or kind called hakk and revenue free inam lands.
  2. Upari balutedars:
    • They were employed on a temporary basis either to support the existing balutas or provisionally work, in case, a watan baluta migrated or left the village.
    • They had no permanent rights in the village and were migratary.
    • They were also not entitled to revenue free inam lands.

Hence, we can conclude that all the statements A), (B) and (C) are correct about the balutedars of Deccan.
