Given:

The stick was broken into two parts which have lengths in the ratio 7 ∶ 11.

The length of the smaller part was 77 cm

Formula used:

100 cm = 1m

Calculation:

Let the common ratio be Q.

Now, the length of the two parts of the stick are 7Q and 11Q cm.

According to the question,

7Q = 77

⇒ Q = 77/7

⇒ Q = 11

Now, the length of the unbroken stick

⇒ 7Q + 11Q

⇒ 18Q

⇒ 18 × 11 (∵ Q = 11)

⇒ 198 cm

⇒ 1.98 m

∴ The length of the unbroken stick is 1.98 m.
