Option 1 : Discovery Learning

Learning is a continuous life-long process that is not inherited but can begin right from birth by providing constant interaction and stimulation received from the physical, social, and cultural environment and it does not stop till the end.

Discovery learning: Discovery learning is the type of learning in which students can learn by finding the correct approach for the problem through their cognition.

  • Example: Finding the types of plants while going on a visit.

 Characteristics of Discovery learning:

  • Discovery learning helps students to think critically.
  • Children learn through observing things and then make a synthesis about the problem.
  • It is based on child-centered learning instead of teacher-centered.
  • There are a lot of resources to gain knowledge in discovery learning because they are free to move in the knowledge-rich environment.
  • Discovery learning helps to make commands of the problem conceptually.
  • Discovery learning improves the skills of the students and makes their thinking divergent.
  • It de-emphasis rote learning or learning based on memorization.
  • Discovery learning is mostly based on activities, experiments, and critical thinking.
  • Students can learn by making guesses or concepts through their cognition.
  • Hence we can say that discovery learning has maximum freedom to construct knowledge within a resource-rich environment.

  •  Expository teaching is a lecture presentation or telling strategy used during instruction. The teacher is in control of presenting the subject matter and directs the students through the lesson.
  • Text-book centered learning: Text-book centered learning is that type of learning in which teachers teach only whatever is mentioned in the textbook, they do not engage their students in different activities, it de-emphasis learning by doing.
  • Behaviouristic teaching : Behaviorists look at learning as an aspect that if a teacher motivates students, and provides them reinforcement, and rewards, then they will automatically learn the behavior they have to perform
