Recently Telangana declared 2020 as the year of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and has signed MoUs with tech firms for AI research.

Telangana Government organised an event on January 02, 2020, to declare the year 2020 as the year of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The Telangana government declared 2020 as the year of artificial intelligence (AI) and inked nine memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with IT players and educational institutions to develop various use cases as well as to conduct research on the application of AI and creation of talent pool in this area.
Telangana is the first state in India to launch an actionable policy framework for Artificial Intelligence in June 2020 with a special focus on sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, law enforcement and mobility.
The founding pillars of the framework have been identified across 6 areas:
- Data exchange platform and HPAIC,
- Government ethics and privacy,
- Skilling and education,
- Research & Innovation,
- Adoption and community collaboration
- AI Innovestment Fund.
As per the partnerships, a Centre for Research in Applied Artificial Intelligence (CRiAA) and a Research & Development (R&D) park will be soon set up in Telengana.

There are 1500 IT/ITeS companies that employ over 5.8 lakh professionals, besides providing indirect employment to over 7 lakh people.
Telangana's IT/ITeS Exports grew at 17.93% compared to the National Average of 8.09% and the rest of the Nation's Average of 6.92%.
