Option 3 : Provide the situation to distribute two objects among three and more than three students, then teach fraction
A fraction represents the distribution of a whole into many parts, it has two parts numerator and a denominator the parts selected are denoted in the numerator and the whole parts in the denominator. Fraction is a kind of topic that occurs often in real life also so they should be introduced in a situation based manner like :
- Birthday situations of students can be utilized to take the cake as a whole and distribute the pieces and teach.
- By distributing objects among the students which are part of teaching-learning material and teaching.
- The classroom can be taken as an example and the fraction where boys are seated can be divided and taught.
- Real-life examples like a father distributing his property to his children can be taken and fractions can be introduced in the form of role-playing.
- The whole school can be taken and in each classroom as a part, fractions can be introduced.
On the other hand First writing the topic on the blackboard then teaching the concept, introducing the numerator and denominator in different types of fractions, and writing the fraction on the blackboard in the form of where y ≠ 0, then teaching the fraction will not be so effective in introducing fractions because here the students remain passive most of the time.
