It A river is a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, sea, lake or another river. 

  • In certain Puranas, the term Vindhya specifically covers the mountain range located between the Narmada and the Tapti rivers; that is, the one which is now known as the Satpura Range. 

 

  1. The Narmada River also called the Reva and previously also known as Narbada or anglicised as Nerbudda, is the 5th longest river and overall longest west-flowing river in India, and the largest flowing river in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
  2. This river flows through Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat states of India.
  3. The Tapti River is a river in central India located to the south of the Narmada river which flows westwards before draining into the Arabian Sea.
  4. The river has a length of around 724kms and flows through the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. 

Hence, Narmada and Tapti Rivers are the main rivers of the Vindhya and Satpura Ranges.
