Option 1 : Difficulty in understanding place value

Language disorders are often developmental. They start in early childhood and continue into adulthood. But they can also be caused by a brain injury or illness.

Expressive language disorder:  It refers to difficulty in producing spoken language. Children having this disorder can understand speech and language produced by others yet they face difficulty with producing speech themselves. People have trouble getting their message across when they talk. They often struggle to put words together into sentences that make sense.

Symptoms include:

  • Using a basic or limited number of words and sentences in speech
  • Difficulty in remembering/recalling the right words
  • Difficulty in learning new words
  • Problems with conveying information in an organized way
  • Not able to follow the general rules of communication
  • Making grammatical errors

Thus, it is concluded that difficulty in understanding place value may NOT occur in expressive language disorder.

Hint

  •  'Dyscalculia' is a type of mathematics-related learning disability that hinders a learner's basic understanding of numbers. Thus, difficulty in understanding place value is a mathematical disorder.
