Option 2 : b and c only

  •  Mediterranean forests, woodlands, and scrub is a biome defined by the World Wide Fund for Nature.
  • Mediterranean vegetation shows several adaptations to drought, grazing, and frequent fire regimes.

  1. Citrus fruits such as oranges, figs, olives, and grapes are commonly cultivated in Mediterranean Region because people have removed the natural vegetation to cultivate what they want to.
  2. People in the Mediterranean region have cleared the natural vegetation to expand agriculture. Because the land is devoid of its natural vegetation, there is hardly any wildlife in the region.

Mistake Points

  1. Since these are found in areas around the Mediterranean Sea in Europe, Africa, and Asia, these are called Mediterranean vegetation.
  2. This kind of vegetation is also found outside the actual Mediterranean region such as in California in the USA, Southwest Africa, Southwestern South America, and Southwest Australia.

Hence, Mediterranean vegetation is the area near the Mediterranean sea but it is also present in the USA and Australia. This area is the main producer of citrus fruits and there is less wildlife population available here.
